Borras project receives recognition from the Hertford Civic Society

Borras are delighted to have received a Commendation at the 2016 Hertford Civic Society Awards for our Saint Andrew Centre project at St Andrew’s Church.

The Society was founded in 1969 and works to improve the environment and facilities of Hertford. Every two or three years the Chairman convenes a committee to discuss the quality of new building work in the town. The purpose is to give recognition to those who serve well the cause of improving the environment and amenities of Hertford. The awards are related primarily to the impact of the new development on the appearance and character of its surroundings. The emphasis is on good urban design, complementing the existing townscape.

The successful project at St Andrew’s Church, which was completed by our Special Works Division, involved the creation of a new St Andrew’s Centre through the extension, alteration and refurbishment of the old Parish Hall. Borras worked in partnership with architect’s Good Architecture to deliver the scheme which was completed in October 2013.

The new centre is now used by a variety of community groups and boasts a large multi-use space and art room, improved kitchen and toilet facilities as well as a range of meeting rooms, including a one-to-one counselling room.

Congratulations to the Borras project team and everyone involved in the build!
