Borras Shortlisted for a Further 3 LABC Building Excellence Awards
Borras are proud to have been shortlisted for a further three LABC Building Excellence Awards. The news follows on from the recent announcement that our project at Merchant Taylors’ School has been nominated for the ‘Best Educational Building’ in the LABC Central Region. The Local Authority Building Control (LABC) awards celebrate vital elements in the creation of excellent buildings: outstanding craftsmanship, technical innovation, sustainability and high performance.
Two of the new nominations are related to the £5.1m scheme our Social Housing team completed earlier this year at Brooklands Gardens, Seven Locks Housing’s flagship independent living scheme in Market Harborough. The project is up for ‘Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development’ and Best Site Agent – Residential’ in the East Midlands Region.
The 87–week redevelopment saw the existing 50 bedroom site dramatically remodelled into a 67 property state-of-the-art facility. Find out more about the scheme here.

Special congratulations to Borras Site Manager Rob Marks who managed the Brooklands Gardens project and is up for the ‘Best Site Agent’ award, good luck Rob!
This success for our Social Housing Division continued when the 18 new build homes we constructed for Harlow District Council was also nominated for ‘Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development’, this time coming in the East Anglia Region.
The two nominations in the housing category follow on from our success at the 2014 LABC awards where Borras walked away with the award for our Westminster Drive scheme.
Central awards will be announced in April, followed by the East Midlands and East Anglia in June. Winners will go forward into the National LABC Awards, due to be held in November.
In response to the Coronavirus outbreak, we are keen to reassure our employees, clients, project stakeholders and supply-chain partners, that we are taking the necessary precautions in relation to a healthy working environment across our sites and operations.
