Borras to Build New Hoddesdon Crematorium
Borras’ General Contracts Division set up site in Hoddesdon at the end of June in preparation for the construction of a new build £1.5m crematorium. The project is on behalf of Westerleigh Group, a specialist cemetery and crematorium operator who operate over 20 facilities across the country.
The new facility will be situated on an existing greenfield site in Woollensbrook and will provide vital additional burial ground for Hoddesdon with the existing cemetery due to run out of space within the next two years.
The two storey structure is designed to complement the rural surroundings and will include a chapel, porte-cochere entrance and administration facilities with a water feature, garden of remembrance and memorial woodland to be created elsewhere on site.

Borras are taking the site over from a civil engineering contractor who have recently completed works to create access roads, pathways and the site entrance off the Hertford Road. We will be working with MPG Shreeves LLP to deliver the project which is due for completion in early 2017.
More updates on the scheme to follow.
The project’s challenging time-scale, particularly in the run up to Christmas, has been met with the skill and professionalism that we’ve come to expect from Borras Construction over the past 10+ years you’ve worked with Brunel University.
