South East BSG Member of the Year 2015
Borras were delighted to have been named the South East BSG Member of the year at the recent Building Safety Group Awards. The Building Safety Group specialise in providing health, safety and environmental advice for the construction industry and are the largest safety group of their kind.
The awards took place in October 2015 at the Williams F1 Conference Centre and were attended by over 100 delegates representing member companies located throughout the UK.
British Safety Council's International Safety Award
Borras are delighted to announce we were recently awarded the British Safety Council’s International Safety Award for the seventh consecutive year, this year however is the first time we have received a Distinction, making us one of only 43 companies to receive this honour in 2014!
Local Authority Building Control Building Excellence Award
Borras were recently awarded the ‘Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development’ project for the Central Region at the LABC Building Excellence Awards.
The LABC Building Excellence awards span across England and Wales and celebrate the essence of good building, they award projects that display technical excellence, innovation, green and sustainable practises, good team working with local authorities and creative problem solving.
Borras received the award for our Special Works project ‘Westminster Drive’, a specialist care home for children up to the age of 18 in Milton Keynes. The scheme, which was completed in February 2013, saw Borras work in partnership with Stenton Obhi Architects and Hewitt Freeborn Associates to deliver the new build home for Milton Keynes Council.
BREEAM is the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method for buildings. It sets out the standard for best practice in sustainable design and has become the recognised measure to describe a building’s environmental performance.
Borras have previously been awarded Very Good ratings for works at Woodland View Primary School (Northampton) and St Matthews Primary School (Luton) as well as an Excellent award for our Broughton Pavilion Project (Milton Keynes).

Investors in People
Investors in People is a best practice people management standard, offering accreditation to organisations that adhere to a series of 39 measures which help find and realise the potential of their people.
Borras first achieved Investors in People in 2003 and have held it ever since. It forms part of our commitment to provide a rewarding, enjoyable work environment.
Borras are committed to the Considerate Constructors Scheme and register 100% of our sites.
In the past we have been awarded several accolades including a bronze award in 2013 for our South Cambridgeshire Decent Homes scheme and Performance Beyond Compliance certificates for two recent projects at Wendover House School (Wendover) and Ivybridge Primary School (Hounslow).
Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme
CHAS is a national accreditation for organisations demonstrating a high level of health and safety compliance and management.
Constructionline is a national database of contractors and consultants who have pre-qualified to government standards.

ISO 9001 (Quality Management) - Helps outline ways to achieve, as well as benchmark, consistent performance and service.
ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) - An internationally accepted standard that outlines how to put an effective environmental management system in place. It is designed to help businesses remain commercially successful without overlooking environmental responsibilities.
ISO 18001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management) - Sets out the minimum requirements for occupational health and safety management best practice.
Committed2Equality is an annually assessed National Equality Standard, designed for organisations to enable them to reach their equality potential and demonstrate their equality and diversity working practices.

Both the Contract and Site Managers were extremely approachable and professional and always kept us fully informed of both the progress of the build and any possible impact/access issues that may have occurred. Any queries or questions that we had were fully resolved and answered at the earliest opportunity and an excellent working relationship was quickly established between Borras and the Red Cross.
