Highfield School’s New Wing Officially Opened

The new wing at Highfield School, a special educational needs school in Ely has been officially opened by the city’s Mayor Lis Every.

The new design and build £1m extension features a sixth-form common room, vocational life skills room, ICT suite, staff resource room and food technology room. Two rooms in the existing school were also refurbished to create additional classrooms.

The new block provides state-of-the-art facilities specifically suited to the children’s learning requirements and will allow the school to increase its pupil roll from 104 to 124.

This scheme is one of three our Special Works Division have worked in partnership with Faithful & Gould (project managers) to deliver for Cambridgeshire County Council in 2015, along with Castle School which was completed in October and Swavesey Primary School which is due for completion in November.
