London Division Start on New Pavilion at Hackney Marshes

Borras London Division recently commenced construction of a new state-of-the-art £3m pavilion at the iconic Hackney Marshes. One of the largest areas of common land in Greater London, covering over 330 acres, it is widely regarded as the spiritual home of grass roots football with over 80 pitches on the North, South Marsh and Mabley Green.

The new facility will replace the existing changing room building which is no longer fit for purpose and complete the Council’s wider transformation programme for the Marshes.

Constructed on the North Marsh, the single storey structure will boast several sustainability features and include 16 changing rooms, four officials’ rooms and a large social space that will overlook the new cricket show-pitch.

Councillor Feryal Demirci, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Transport and Parks recently joined our Site and Contracts Managers along with other members of the project team to break ground, ceremonially marking the start of the build.

Cllr Demirici went on to say “Lots of people told us they wanted this new pavilion, so it’s fantastic that we’ve finally been able to start building it. We’ve worked closely with the architect and landscape architect to make sure it complements the beauty and wildlife of the Marshes as much as possible. I can’t wait to come back next year to officially open the high quality facility that a world famous space like Hackney Marshes deserves.”
