Pear Tree Mead Academy open new extension
The £1.6m extension project Borras’ General Contracts team recently completed at Pear Tree Mead Academy in Harlow has now officially been opened.
The design and build scheme was completed over 30 weeks in 2016 and involved the construction of a single storey, timber framed extension. The new structure links the previously separate infant and junior school buildings and provides an additional 4 classrooms, toilets, staff room and library.

Headteacher Christine Peden cut the ribbon on the new build and said: “It is lovely to see months of building work come together and see people celebrating the opening.
“We currently take 45 children per year group but with the new classrooms we can take 60. It will be a slow expansion over the next few years.
“Our thanks to Borras, considering how central to the school the project was it had little impact on the school and teaching. It has been a pleasure to work with such a professional team and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Borras to other schools.”

We worked with consultants Barker Associates and Pick Everard to deliver the scheme on behalf of Essex County Council. Click HERE to find out more about the project.
In response to the Coronavirus outbreak, we are keen to reassure our employees, clients, project stakeholders and supply-chain partners, that we are taking the necessary precautions in relation to a healthy working environment across our sites and operations.
