Phase 1 of Brimsdown Primary School Project Complete

Our General Contracts team recently completed phase 1 of their £2.4m improvement project at Brimdown Primary School, Enfield.

Phase 1, which started in October 2016 and has been handed over in time for the start of the new September term involved the extension and refurbishment of the existing school hall. Works began with the demolition of an existing external wall to form an opening, to which the steel framed extension was adjoined to.

The new structure now provides the school with a larger commercial kitchen, integrated storage space and a larger dining/sports hall which can be divided thanks to two folding partitions.

The roof on the existing portion of the hall was renewed alongside the installation of the extensions roof. Several new sky lights and air handling units were installed which help to flood the space with natural light and optimise the circulation of fresh, tempered air around the building.

Colourful acoustic wall mounted panels help brighten the hall’s appearance and ensure any noisy sports lessons don’t disturb the neighbouring school buildings.

Following completion, phase 2 recently commenced. This will see the existing, now redundant, dining hall demolished to make way for additional car parking, the creation of new external soft play areas and the formation of a new main entrance to the school.
