At Borras Construction, we’re committed to delivering works efficiently, whilst understanding the vision of our clients. This project, carried out in partnership with Rowan Homes Ltd, Settle, Stotfold Town Council and Stotfold Football Club involved extensive planning and delivery to achieve completion.
Borras was appointed by Settle and Rowan Homes, with plans to develop an FA-standard, floodlit football pitch with associated playing facilities upon the grounds located at Arlesey Road, Stotfold, Hertfordshire. Better known as New Roker Park, Stotfold FC’s new home has allowed Stotfold Town Council to release old Roker Park where they have played since 1965, following the clubs relocation. 62 new affordable homes for sale and rent will be built upon the clubs former ground, supporting local housing needs.
This £2m relocation in return for housing development marks a momentous occasion, making the clubs 20 year dream a reality. Sat within 23 acres of recreational land, this project involved major ground works in preparation for the development of a new club house, adjacent to the floodlit football pitch. The club house provides adequate space for hosting up to 140 guests, with a bar and kitchenette the venue is also available for hire to the local community.
Other areas include home and away changing and shower rooms as well as rooms for referees and match officials, a physiotherapy room, wash room, public changing rooms, a separate fold-back meeting room and a cellar area. Surrounding the new FA-standard pitch, we installed dugouts and seating for the team staff, we also introduced a stand with seating for up to 100 supporters. Further landscaping was carried out to create clear and adequate space for staff and visitors parking upon the premises, as well as entry points.
The works were challenging, with the new football ground located on a busy road. Despite the location, we managed to achieve the completed works whilst minimising disruption to the local area. We worked with partners, Robert Lombardelli and Ditto.
New Roker Park was opened an attended by Richard Fuller, MP for North East Bedfordshire who was joined by Settle Chair, Martin Nurse, Alan Cooper, Mayor of Stotfold, Brian Saunders, Chairman of Central Bedfordshire Council and Phil Pateman, Chairman of Stotfold Football Club, with the support of Central Bedfordshire Council.
