Camberwell New Cemetery Lodge Refurbishment
CLIENT: London Borough of Southwark
ARCHITECT: Randall Shaw Billingham
QUANTITY SURVEYOR: Huntley Cartwright
CONTRACT PERIOD: 14 Weeks
At Borras Construction, we’re committed to delivering works efficiently, whilst understanding the vision of our clients and their communities. This project, carried out in partnership with London Borough of Southwark involved extensive planning and delivery to ensure we completed the project on time and met the requirements.
Our London team set up site in February 2019. First opened in 1927, the cemetery is home to 198 Second World War burials. This project saw the refurbishment of the lodge located at the entrance, along with associated external works including toilets and upgrades to the area that accommodates the grave diggers.
Following the completion of works, the cemetery now boasts a big transformation with modern upgrades to areas used by staff and visitors. The scheme of works involved:
- Reconfiguration and refurbishment of the cemetery lodge
- Mechanical and electrical upgrades
- Accessible outdoor toilets
- Refurbishment of the grave diggers accommodation
- Kitchen, toilet and drainage upgrades.
Being situated on a busy road, the works were challenging. We worked with partners, Randall Shaw Billingham and Huntley Cartwright to complete this scheme of works.
