Whilst carrying out our recently completed work, we continued to develop a great ongoing relationship with Brunel University. Here we completed works to the Central Lecture Block, this involved internal alterations and refurbishment to eight lecture rooms, located on the main campus.
Our General Contracts team set up site in April 2019. With several lecture rooms in need of refurbishment, we commenced with the initial strip out and removal of old furnishings and lighting. Each room required the following upgrades:
- Replacement of suspended ceilings
- New seating installation
- New projectors and interactive lecture hardware for lecturers
- Upgraded mechanical and electrical services including fire alarm, air conditioning and heating units
- New economical lighting installation
- Replacement flooring including carpet tiles
- Fire proofing alterations and general decoration.
Working with a demanding time frame and having to split the work over two phases were the most challenging aspects of the project. Despite these challenges, strict scheduling throughout the works ensured completion was achieved on time and the facility was ready for use when the students returned in the autumn.
