At Borras Construction, we recognise the importance of educational services. We have extensive experience of developing educational facilities and nurturing the great relationships we have with our clients and schools we have worked with.
In March 2017, our Special Works team began working in partnership with Essex County Council, preparing the designs for early stages of works to take place at Westerings Primary Academy. We also held a school talk during an assembly, explaining the importance of safety and the dangers of construction sites. The ground works started in April 2018, under the Essex County Council, contractor framework.
Established in September 2011, the award winning academy offers a range of extra-curricular opportunities and encourages sporting activity, being one of many schools that have been awarded a ‘Schools Games’ GOLD status for four consecutive years. The school is situated in beautiful surroundings adjoining Hockley Woods, where the children enjoy learning surrounded by wildlife and a range of outdoor facilities.
This project involved the design and construction of a new build, state of the art, three classroom teaching block. The rooms will be equipped with modern furnishings and advanced interactive screens, as well as hot-boards. The new block will also have a modern economical energy usage system and with external power outlets, the regenerated playground which has seen newly laid tarmac will support any fêtes and sporting events.
We faced the challenge of completing this project whilst doing our best to minimise disruption, with the school remaining in use throughout the majority of the works. We worked in partnership with Pick Everard to deliver the scheme of works, which was completed in October 2018.
“I would like to personally congratulate Borras Construction for doing such a brilliant job. The new classrooms are absolutely state of the art, 21st century construction completed to an extremely high standard. You have done an absolutely cracking job.”
