St Pancras Hospital, Crisis Centre

Camden, London

CLIENT: Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust
ARCHITECT: QMP
QUANTITY SURVEYOR: QMP
VALUE: £940,000
CONTRACT PERIOD: 19 Weeks

This project was carried out on behalf of the Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust and saw the conversion of a 402m² existing day nursery into the new South Camden Crisis House.

The new centre provides rapid assessment and support to residents of the surrounding area in a more homely environment than a typical hospital ward.

The site being located within the grounds of St Pancras Hospital meant access was very limited and the surrounding buildings had to be taken into consideration throughout every stage of construction.

Works saw the building completely remodelled internally to provide individual accommodation with en suite facilities and communal areas for patients on the ground floor, with consultation rooms and office space on the first floor.

State of the art patient/staff monitoring and alarm I.T systems where also fitted throughout, which were then linked back to the main hospital building.
