Brooklands Gardens, Seven Locks Housing’s flagship independent living scheme in Market Harborough is now open following an 87-week redevelopment, completed by our Residential Team.
Borras worked in partnership with BRP Architects and Richard Julian & Associates to deliver the project which saw the existing 50 bedroom site dramatically remodelled into a 67 property state-of-the-art facility. The mix of one and two bedroom flats were modernised, with new kitchens, bathrooms, balconies and patio doors. The facility now also boasts three communal lounges, a room for hobbies, a hairdressers, laundry room and shared garden and courtyard.
The works were completed in two phases, allowing residents from the half of the site being renovated to move into the other half temporarily.
Phase 1, which was completed in April 2015 involved:
- The demolition of an existing structure, making way for the construction of a two storey extension which now homes one of the communal lounges, several new apartments and staff offices
- The refurbishment of Orchard House (an existing three storey building) which is now home to 16 apartments
- Construction of a new build link that connects the two main buildings on site to form one complete facility.
Phase 2 involved refurbishment of the existing properties and the provision of an additional 15 apartments within a separate building on site, Oak Tree House.
The project team were join by residents, local councillors and representatives from Seven Locks Housing at an official opening ceremony in January 2016. In attendance was Gerald Taylor, Group Chief Executive of Acclaim Housing (Seven Locks parent company) who said:
‘The stylish surrounding and exceptional facilities have created a vibrant and welcoming environment which will help transform the lives of both current and future residents, Rob (Borras Site Manager) did a fantastic job, it’s never easy to work on a site where you have residents living.’
