Following a single stage competitive tendering process in November 2013, Borras were awarded the phased design and build of several new properties across 5 sites for Network New Build Ltd, a housing association who own and manage over 19,000 homes across London and the South East.
The properties were constructed on disused or under utilised residential garage sites which were demolished and cleared prior to construction. In total 11 houses, 1 bungalow and a car park were constructed across the 5 sites.
Our early detailed surveys revealed previously unknown contamination and issues with drainage outfall connections on three of the sites, existing drains were a considerable distance away from where Thames Water originally believed them to be.
We worked on an open book basis with Thames Water, our ground workers and the clients surveyor in discussions over costs, designs and solutions for extra works. Close collaborative working meant we were able to quickly agree costs and commence works soon after dealing with the problems.
